Easy To Make Top Notch Smoothie Yogurt Recipe

By Anthony Mcgarry

Yogurt smoothies are very easy and fun to make. Anyone can quickly make their own yogurt smoothie recipe. The most fun part of making the smoothie is watching how quickly it is created right before your eyes.

Of course you will need a good quality blender that can handle chopping ice cubes. To make your own yogurt smoothie recipe first add a half cup of your favorite unsweetened fruit juice to the blender pitcher. Then add a half cup of vanilla or plain yogurt and three quarters cup of your favorite fresh frozen fruit. Lastly add five ice cubes and as an option add a half banana and blend the ingredients until smooth.

Try experimenting with different frozen fruits and juices until you have your ideal yogurt smoothie recipe perfected. Also consider good smoothie additives such as chocolate syrup, oatflour or flaxseed flour or even peanut butter. It is important to add the smoothie ingredients in the above mentioned order for best mixing results. By using a base mixture of the juice, yogurt, frozen fruit and ice you will find that you always will get good smoothie results. Apple or pineapple juice and frozen blueberries or strawberries are always good to use.

You can change ingredients around to make your own healthy or diet type smoothies. Try adding ground sunflower seeds and a banana for a healthier yogurt smoothie. For a diet smoothie use non- fat yogurt, apple juice and blueberries. Supplements such as protein powder or bee pollen are great to add to create your own unique smoothie recipe.

Here is one you can try

Banana Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie

1/4 cup Pineapple juice

1/4 cup Applesauce

1/2 cup vanilla yogurt

1/2 cup fresh Blueberries

1 Tbp. ground flaxseed

2 Tbps. ground Sunflower seeds

1 frozen banana (peeled of course!)

Why Make Homemade Yogurt?

Yogurt (or yoghurt as the British like to say) has been eaten for centuries by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean civilizations. In the west yogurt has now become an often over-processed, snack food. But, yogurt is such a wonder food it really seems a shame for us not to be using it to its full potential.

Many people who suffer with diseases such as Colitis and Chrohn's find it very difficult to digest cows milk. But, these same people can digest yogurt. So consuming yogurt is a great way for lactose intolerant people to get some calcium into their diet.

Yogurt can be used to introduce 'lactobacillus acidophilus' and other beneficial bacterial cultures into the gut. These 'good' bacteria prevent harmful bacteria and yeasts taking over the gut. Thus, consuming 'live' yogurt which still contains these helpful bacteria can help eliminate Candida, along with the 'yeast syndrome' symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, wind and bad breath.

Live yogurt can also be applied onto the skin to help clear up other yeast infections such as thrush.

Dessert Recipe - Let Them Eat Chocolate Cake

Just like San Francisco Frozen Yogurts, baking a really good chocolate cake from scratch is not difficult. Anyone with rudimentary skills in the kitchen can manage it. Cake mixes are good, but with a little extra effort, you can make a cake the old fashioned way and really have a special dessert. About the only difference from using a mix is that you have to spend a couple minutes assembling the ingredients and then you are just blending it in a big bowl with an electric mixer.

In this chocolate cake recipe, you can use either cocoa powder or melt squares of unsweetened chocolate. This versatility adds to the convenience of the dessert recipe because you can use either form of baking chocolate, depending on what happens to be in the cupboard. Although you can also use either all-purpose flour or cake flour, a cake made with cake flour will have a finer and softer texture. Don't worry if you only have all-purpose flour. Your cake will still turn out fine.

When you go shopping for the ingredients, keep in mind that a good chocolate cake, or any chocolate dessert, starts with selecting a good chocolate. Going upscale, especially with something from Europe, is definitely worth the extra couple bucks. Common products from Hershey's or Nestle are just adequate, not great.

Chocolate cake recipe ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour or cake flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate melted and cooled OR 2/3 cup cocoa powder

Strawberry Yogurt

Frozen yogurt is available in different fruit flavors among which mango, strawberry, pineapple and peach are very common. Making a fruit yogurt at home is very simple and easy. This recipe is of strawberry yogurt. Using the same recipe one can make any other fruit-flavored yogurt as the basic method remains the same. This strawberry yogurt takes only 15 minutes to be prepared and a maximum of 2 hours is required for freezing it. It is served after frozen.

Ingredients Required:

1 kg plain yogurt
1 pack fresh cream (200 ml)
1 pack strawberry jelly powder
1 tablespoon Gelatin powder
1 tin pack condensed milk
Fresh strawberries as required (optional)

Cooking Instructions:

Take a small bowl and mix gelatin powder in two tablespoon of cold water. Now boil water in a pan and then place the bowl of gelatin paste onto the surface of boiling water. Cook the gelatin paste on slow heat so that gelatin powder dissolves completely in the water. This would take about 8-10 minutes. Take another mixing bowl and beat yogurt, cream, condense milk and jelly powder using whisker.

When all the ingredients have been mixed thoroughly and a smooth paste is formed, add the melted gelatin into the mixture and mix again. Add small pieces(chopped or slices) of strawberries in it as this would enhance the flavor of yogurt and then in a plastic bowl pour the yogurt mixture and place in a freezer for one to two hours. Delicious frozen strawberry yogurt is ready to be served after freezing. Serve it in cups or bowls with topping of some more strawberry slices.

Health Benefits of Frozen Yogurt vs Ice Cream

Yogurt Bar is delving into the classic case of the health benefits of ice cream versus frozen yogurt and want to share our conclusions. When considering the health benefits of frozen yogurt versus ice cream most people immediately look at fat and sugar content. It’s true, not all frozen yogurt is fat free and some can be high in sugar content, however there are several healthy frozen yogurts available, such as Yogurt Bar’s organic frozen yogurts that are non-fat and low calorie. But what about the additional health benefits of frozen yogurt? Surely fat and sugar content is not all there is to consider.

One major health benefit of all natural frozen yogurts is the probiotic content. Frozen yogurt that contains live bacterial cultures promotes better digestion.
