Easy To Make Top Notch Smoothie Yogurt Recipe

By Anthony Mcgarry

Yogurt smoothies are very easy and fun to make. Anyone can quickly make their own yogurt smoothie recipe. The most fun part of making the smoothie is watching how quickly it is created right before your eyes.

Of course you will need a good quality blender that can handle chopping ice cubes. To make your own yogurt smoothie recipe first add a half cup of your favorite unsweetened fruit juice to the blender pitcher. Then add a half cup of vanilla or plain yogurt and three quarters cup of your favorite fresh frozen fruit. Lastly add five ice cubes and as an option add a half banana and blend the ingredients until smooth.

Try experimenting with different frozen fruits and juices until you have your ideal yogurt smoothie recipe perfected. Also consider good smoothie additives such as chocolate syrup, oatflour or flaxseed flour or even peanut butter. It is important to add the smoothie ingredients in the above mentioned order for best mixing results. By using a base mixture of the juice, yogurt, frozen fruit and ice you will find that you always will get good smoothie results. Apple or pineapple juice and frozen blueberries or strawberries are always good to use.

You can change ingredients around to make your own healthy or diet type smoothies. Try adding ground sunflower seeds and a banana for a healthier yogurt smoothie. For a diet smoothie use non- fat yogurt, apple juice and blueberries. Supplements such as protein powder or bee pollen are great to add to create your own unique smoothie recipe.

Here is one you can try

Banana Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie

1/4 cup Pineapple juice

1/4 cup Applesauce

1/2 cup vanilla yogurt

1/2 cup fresh Blueberries

1 Tbp. ground flaxseed

2 Tbps. ground Sunflower seeds

1 frozen banana (peeled of course!)

Why Make Homemade Yogurt?

Yogurt (or yoghurt as the British like to say) has been eaten for centuries by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean civilizations. In the west yogurt has now become an often over-processed, snack food. But, yogurt is such a wonder food it really seems a shame for us not to be using it to its full potential.

Many people who suffer with diseases such as Colitis and Chrohn's find it very difficult to digest cows milk. But, these same people can digest yogurt. So consuming yogurt is a great way for lactose intolerant people to get some calcium into their diet.

Yogurt can be used to introduce 'lactobacillus acidophilus' and other beneficial bacterial cultures into the gut. These 'good' bacteria prevent harmful bacteria and yeasts taking over the gut. Thus, consuming 'live' yogurt which still contains these helpful bacteria can help eliminate Candida,along with the 'yeast syndrome' symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, wind and bad breath.

Live yogurt can also be applied onto the skin to help clear up other yeast infections such as thrush.

Dessert Recipe - Let Them Eat Chocolate Cake

Just like San Francisco Frozen Yogurts, baking a really good chocolate cake from scratch is not difficult. Anyone with rudimentary skills in the kitchen can manage it. Cake mixes are good, but with a little extra effort, you can make a cake the old fashioned way and really have a special dessert. About the only difference from using a mix is that you have to spend a couple minutes assembling the ingredients and then you are just blending it in a big bowl with an electric mixer.

In this chocolate cake recipe, you can use either cocoa powder or melt squares of unsweetened chocolate. This versatility adds to the convenience of the dessert recipe because you can use either form of baking chocolate, depending on what happens to be in the cupboard. Although you can also use either all-purpose flour or cake flour, a cake made with cake flour will have a finer and softer texture. Don't worry if you only have all-purpose flour. Your cake will still turn out fine.

When you go shopping for the ingredients, keep in mind that a good chocolate cake, or any chocolate dessert, starts with selecting a good chocolate. Going upscale, especially with something from Europe, is definitely worth the extra couple bucks. Common products from Hershey's or Nestle are just adequate, not great.

Chocolate cake recipe ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour or cake flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate melted and cooled OR 2/3 cup cocoa powder

Strawberry Yogurt

Frozen yogurt is available in different fruit flavors among which mango, strawberry, pineapple and peach are very common. Making a fruit yogurt at home is very simple and easy. This recipe is of strawberry yogurt. Using the same recipe one can make any other fruit-flavored yogurt as the basic method remains the same. This strawberry yogurt takes only 15 minutes to be prepared and a maximum of 2 hours is required for freezing it. It is served after frozen.

Ingredients Required:

1 kg plain yogurt
1 pack fresh cream (200 ml)
1 pack strawberry jelly powder
1 tablespoon Gelatin powder
1 tin pack condensed milk
Fresh strawberries as required (optional)

Cooking Instructions:

Take a small bowl and mix gelatin powder in two tablespoon of cold water. Now boil water in a pan and then place the bowl of gelatin paste onto the surface of boiling water. Cook the gelatin paste on slow heat so that gelatin powder dissolves completely in the water. This would take about 8-10 minutes. Take another mixing bowl and beat yogurt, cream, condense milk and jelly powder using whisker.

When all the ingredients have been mixed thoroughly and a smooth paste is formed, add the melted gelatin into the mixture and mix again. Add small pieces(chopped or slices) of strawberries in it as this would enhance the flavor of yogurt and then in a plastic bowl pour the yogurt mixture and place in a freezer for one to two hours. Delicious frozen strawberry yogurt is ready to be served after freezing. Serve it in cups or bowls with topping of some more strawberry slices.

Health Benefits of Frozen Yogurt vs Ice Cream

Yogurt Bar is delving into the classic case of the health benefits of ice cream versus frozen yogurt and want to share our conclusions. When considering the health benefits of frozen yogurt versus ice cream most people immediately look at fat and sugar content. It’s true, not all frozen yogurt is fat free and some can be high in sugar content, however there are several healthy frozen yogurts available, such as Yogurt Bar’s organic frozen yogurts that are non-fat and low calorie. But what about the additional health benefits of frozen yogurt? Surely fat and sugar content is not all there is to consider.

One major health benefit of all natural frozen yogurts is the probiotic content. Frozen yogurt that contains live bacterial cultures promotes better digestion.

Homemade Frozen Yogurt Recipe

Frozen yogurt has now become a staple in most homes. It is just as good to the taste as ice cream but with less than half the calories and less or no fat at all. Frozen yogurt also gives you the benefit of lactobacillus bacteria which is a great aid in digestion. Frozen yogurt is also a great source of protein making it a chock full of health. Making your own homemade frozen yogurt recipe is a great alternative to buying ones from the store. By doing so you can eliminate certain preservatives and artificial additives from your cold dessert treat. For someone attempting to make his or her own recipe it is best to learn a popular one first as a guide to make your own tasty and healthy concoction. French vanilla yogurt is among the easiest and most popular homemade frozen yogurt recipes you can make. The ingredients are:

half a cup of evaporated milk
two teaspoons of gelatin (unflavored)
2/3 cup of raw sugar
a pinch of salt
2 beaten egg yolks
2 cups of plain whole milk yogurt
2 tablespoons of vanilla
2 egg whites

Get the milk warm just below boiling point; add sugar, salt and gelatin until all ingredients are dissolved. Start beating the egg yolks until they are frothy. Begin gradually adding the froth into your mixture gradually till the mix thickens. If you're satisfied with the texture set it aside to cool down. Once cool enough add yogurt and vanilla then chill in the refrigerator for about an hour. Beat the egg whites until soft peaks are formed then proceed to gently folding them into your mixture. At this point all you need to do is chum the batch in a standard two quart ice cream freezer then you're done: one simple yet very tasty homemade frozen yogurt recipe.

What is Tart Frozen Yogurt Anyhow?

You may remember the Frozen Yogurt craze of the 80's where it was touted as a healthy snack because it was typically lower in fat. Well today Frozen Yogurt is back, in a big way and it isn't just the same old stuff. Now it isn't just looked at as a low-fat desert, tart yogurt is actually being promoted as being healthy for you too.

Today's Frozen Yogurt is riding the popularity of "live active cultures" in health brands such as Activia and is often referred to as "tart frozen yogurt" because of this. Additionally, many shops are positioning Tart Yogurt as a healthy alternative to ice cream, something that is low in sugar, served with fresh berries, granola, and other "healthy" toppings.

While the mid-west is just now starting to demand it, Kool Technologies has been following this trend as it transformed the market in California and the North East. Tart Yogurt works best in upper income locations, and especially in college towns. All you need is a Stoelting Soft Serve machine , we recommend the Stoelting F431 as it has a small footprint and provides consistent high quality product.

Popular Traditional Yogurt Flavors:

* Vanilla
* Chocolate
* Strawberry

Popular Frozen Yogurt Flavors in 2008:

* Vanilla

And remember, that even with a shaky economy, frozen desserts, like movies typically do well in a downturn since they are an affordable luxury. Ready to learn more about Tart Frozen Yogurt? We are ready with all the answers you might need from what machines are needed to where to buy mix, what toppings are popular, even what locations and markets make the best spots to offer Frozen Yogurt.

The Beginnings of Frozen Yogurt

If you are craving ice cream, but want something a little healthier, turning to frozen yogurt just might be a great option.

Frozen yogurt is similar to ice cream in the sense that the textures and flavors are a lot alike. While sherbet and ice cream have been around for quite some time, frozen yogurt seems to be making a nice entrance to the world of frozen confections.

Frozen desserts have been around for thousands of years. "Water ice" was originally made in Asia. Also, Roman text shows us that their Emperor was treated to fruit juices that were made with "cold with mountain snow". Eventually, "water ices" were introduced to Italy and the popularity was spread through all of Europe.

It has since become easier to make such frozen desserts with the introduction of freezers. The first hand-freezer was brought forth in 1848. Modifications were made and finally the ease of making frozen desserts was widespread.

While ice cream itself has many different flavor options, frozen yogurt is catching up as well. Manufactures refine their recipes, making it not only a tasty treat, but perfect for those that are watching their calorie intake. With its creamy texture and tangier flavor than that of ice cream, it is making a name for itself in many eating establishments and fast becoming an increasingly popular treat. It's so popular in fact that many ice cream manufacturers have added frozen yogurt to their long list of items they make.
